Will:
William Wilson Selby 1 March 1800-25 June 1800 Liber T-1, fol. 452
In the Name of God, Amen. I William Wilson Selby of Prince Georges County State of Maryland being sick and weake in Body but of Perfect Mind and memory thanks be unto God therefore, calling unto Mind the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof I do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul unto the hand of God that gave it, and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the descretion of my herein after mentioned executrix and executor. And as touching my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of in the following manner and form:
Imprimis it is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied.
And in the next place it is my will and I do order that Martha my well beloved wife, have the use of all my Estate real and personal during her life provided she remaineth a widow or in other words that She doth not change her condition by marriage, and then that is at her death or marriage (in either case) It is my will that my Estate both real and personal be given devised and disposed of in the following manner:
Item: I give and bequeath one negro woman named Florah unto my daughter Elenor Lanham to her her heirs and assigns.
Item: I give an bequeath one Negro girl named Sook unto my Daughter Deborah Nailer to her her heirs and assigns.
Item: I give and bequath one negro girl named Cass unto my Daughter Druscilla Jinkens to her her heirs and assigns.
Item: I give and bequeath one negro boy named Harry unto my Daughter Rebeccah Selby to her her heirs and assigns.
Item: I give and bequeath one negro girl named Jean unto my daughter Sarah Selby to her her heirs and asigns.
Item: I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Jinkens, Matilda Jinkens and Aritta Jinkens (daughters of my wife by a former husband) one negro woman named Luce and Feather bed with furniture and one cow to them their heirs and assigns to be equally divided by them as they may think proper.
And after the above legacies is paid I give devise and bequeath all the remaining part of my personal estate together with my real estate unto my six following named children, that is: Charles, Magruder, Richard, John, James and Elizabeth Masters to them there heirs and assigns for ever. These six to have share and share alike.
And lastly I constitute and ordain Martha my well beloved wife and my brother Josiah Willson Selby executrix and executor of this my last will and testament, and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testament, will, legacies and executors by me in any ways before this time named, willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of March in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred.
