Biography

William Reeves was born about 1740 in North Carolina. He and Anne ("Any") were married about 1761 in Orange, North Carolina. He died before November 1821 in Madison, Kentucky.
Note: The poorly researched book, the Reeves Review identified William Reeves who died in Madison County, KY as a son of James Reeves of Guilford, NC; however, the Reeves DNA Project proves that to be incorrect (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~reevesdna/results.h tm) as does 60 years of documentation in Orange, Johnston and Wake counties of North Carolina. William Reeves lived ninety (90) miles from the area on Mears Fork of the Haw River in Guilford County where the James Reeves family was located.

Court clerks wrote the family name as Reeves, Reaves and at times even Reavis, but William Reeves consistently signed his name REVES as did his father and his sons.
